Modern GMC transmissions are extremely reliable. However, all gearboxes undergo an enormous amount of continuous pressure in transferring power from the engine to the wheels. This can lead to small problems that can potentially grow into more serious faults if not identified and repaired early on. With this in mind, here are some common signs that you might need to visit your local GMC dealership soon for transmission repair

Slipping Gears

If a transmission fails to shift gears when you want to, the gears may be slipping. The problem of slipping gears can manifest itself in various symptoms, including delays in shifting or acceleration, surging RPMs when shifting, and gears suddenly changing or popping into neutral on their own.

Slipping gears can be caused by low transmission fluid, worn gears or transmission bands, and faults with the clutch, solenoid, or torque converter. It will usually take an experienced technician to diagnose and repair the cause of slipping gears.

Worn or damaged brakes make driving extremely dangerous and greatly increase the chances of an accident. Fortunately, your Chevrolet dealership can repair any possible problem for you. These are some signs that you may need to visit us for a brake repair.

Pulling to One Side

When you hit the brakes, you expect your car to stop almost instantly, as it’s designed to. If you experience the strange situation of your car turning to the left or right when you brake, this is a sign of brake trouble. Each wheel has a set of calipers positioned above it, and these calipers grab and squeeze against the rotors to bring them to a stop simultaneously.

A rusted or jammed caliper may not grab the rotor, and this will cause the affected rotor to continue to move. If this happens, your car will turn in the direction of the working caliper until it’s brought to a stop by the other wheels. We’ll examine the caliper and repair or replace it, and your brakes will work correctly again.
