GMC is making waves this year with the new and improved 2022 GMC Yukon XL. This full-size SUV has a wide range of capabilities and power galore to back up its commanding presence. If nothing else, the Yukon is the perfect vehicle for nearly anyone’s needs. Let’s take a deeper look into the 2022 Yukon XL.

Basics about the 2022 GMC Yukon XL

The Yukon has three rows of seating, seating up to eight people – seven with second-row captains seating. Some key differences between the Yukon and the Yukon XL are length, cargo space, and legroom. The XL extends the Yukon by 15.2-inches, increases the cargo space from 25.5 to 41.5 cubic feet, and increases the legroom from 34.9-inches to 36.7-inches. This year, you’ll have four trims to choose from: SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.

The SLE and SLT both have a 5.3L V8 engine and can tow an impressive 8,400 pounds. The SLT has a power sliding center console and available HD surround vision. The AT4 has an available 6.2L V8 engine, can tow 8,200 pounds, and has 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. The mighty Yukon Denali comes standard with the 6.2L V8 engine, has an 8,200-pound towing capacity, up to thirteen different camera angles, and unique interior styling.

What’s New for 2022

There are a few great upgrades worth mentioning from last year’s model. In 2022, the AT4 now has the option of upgrading from a 5.3L V8 engine to a 6.2L V8 engine. This year’s information display has been upgraded to 12.0-inches and is powered and enhanced by Google. A Redwood Metallic color option is also available in 2022.

Interior

The 2022 Yukon brings peak comfort and convenience to drivers this year. Plush cloth seating is standard but ventilated leather is available. The whole family can stay entertained with dual second-row 12.6-inch high-definition screens (available for the SLT, AT4, and Denali). On top of that, there are up to eight USB ports available.

Upfront, you will have a 10.2-inch infotainment system. This helps drivers stay focused on the road by making hands-free calls, sending messages, changing music, or getting directions. The center console also has power sliding capabilities, adding an additional 10-inches of front-seat storage space. The two interior color options will be dark walnut and jet black, each with stylish wood detailing.

Safety

The Yukon XL is, by no surprise due to its sheer size, an extremely safe vehicle. With 13 different camera views, you can keep your eyes on everything going on around you. The side-view mirrors utilize blindspot alert technology, warning you of obstacles in your blindspots. The Yukon will also alert the driver if it detects any sway or stray from the lane of travel with lane keep assist.

One can never be too safe on the road, especially in busy areas. That’s why GMC equipped the Yukon with pedestrian detection systems. The Yukon will automatically provide hard braking if no brakes are applied when a pedestrian is detected.
