Powertrain Options

Exceptional performance at 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque is delivered by the Sierra 1500’s standard 2.7L TurboMax inline-4. Of course, buyers will also have the option of V8 power in the form of a 355-hp 5.3L or 420-hp 6.2L EcoTec3 engine. An available 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel inline-6 produces 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. While the 2.7L pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission, other engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic.

Off-Road Capability

When equipped with four-wheel drive and the specially tuned off-road suspension, the Sierra 1500 becomes adept at navigating through rugged terrain. Multiple drive modes, such as sport, terrain, and off-road, are available to help the truck to adapt to a variety of environments and conditions. The 5.3L and 6.2L bring maximum towing capacity up to 11,200 pounds and 13,100 pounds, respectively. Thanks to the 3.0L’s extra torque, the truck can pull even more weight at 13,300 pounds. Along with its ability to haul heavy loads around, the Sierra 1500 offers an extra-tough composite bed and a six-function tailgate.
