2023 Buick Enclave

The well-equipped Enclave Essence starts the lineup with a hands-free programmable liftgate, automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, chrome side moldings, roof-mounted side rails, a rear spoiler, and 18-inch alloy wheels. A step up to the Premium gets you the option for 20-inch alloy wheels, and this trim comes standard with heated, auto-dimming, and power-adjustable side exterior mirrors. The Avenir is the top-level Enclave. It adds to the features of the lower trims with a moonroof and offers the Avenir Technology Package with an adaptive suspension and unique headlights.

All Enclave trims use the same powertrain. The 3.6-liter V-6 engine develops 310 horsepower and gets 266 pound-feet of torque. It works with Buick's nine-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional for any of the trims.

As expected from a Buick, the ride in the Enclave is smooth and quiet. The transmission smoothly shifts through the gears as needed, and the suspension easily eats up dips and bumps in the road. Part of the reason the ride in this SUV stays so comfortable is Buick's Quiet Tuning technology. This has active noise cancelation, sound deadening throughout the body, and acoustic glass on the windshield.

Inside, there's room for up to seven in the Enclave. It has comfortable second-row captain's chairs and a spacious cargo area with 23.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind all three rows. The Essence comes with leather upholstery, heated front seats, and power-adjustable front seats. The Premium adds driver's seat memory settings, a power-adjustable steering column, and ventilated front seats. It also has heated rear seats. Choose the Avenir for a heated steering wheel and a power-folding third row. Technology features in the Enclave start with an 8-inch touch screen, wireless charging, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 10-speaker Bose stereo system comes in the Premium, which also has a household-style power outlet and a head-up display. The Avenir adds to all this with integrated navigation.

Every Enclave comes standard with a long list of driver aids. These include a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with automatic braking, lane-keep assist, and a safety alert seat that will vibrate to let the driver know one or more of the safety warnings has triggered. Front and rear parking sensors are optional for the Essence and come standard with the higher trims. The Premium adds a digital rearview camera and a surround-view camera system, and the Avenir comes with adaptive cruise control.
